yet again unregistered you dont have a clue and got spout crap, the SIG 510 series is based on the work of Feurrer (did i spell his name right?), his rifle was originally designed in the early 20's and produced in 1925. It was used as an autorifle, a sniper's rifle, a light mg, and was noted for its reliability in adverse conditions. the 510 is also equally reliable. Ask any one who fights with one in, oh, say Africa, Asia, or South and Central America. They have sold a lot of these over the years. As for the mauser, i'll give you a buck fifty for it.

I run across a lot of your threads on your "own place";I gotta ask this here since everything seems to stall during the reply process over there. Why slam a classic like the K98 as a "clunker"?I know its not your usual favorite, you know, the canned AR15 backed by the Assault Wheelbarrel, but heysomeone who works with it regular can clean your clock as long as he/she doesn't try it in a CQB(outside of bayonet work)shooting situation.Hell, I even like the caliber, especiall in its Ss incarnation(heavy pointed ball);in the Balkans, its still in use as a machine gun&sniper rifle(M76)load.
This doesn't detract from the effectiveness of the 5.56/5.45 type cartridges, its simply another tool in the box.

used it on many occassions? dude its a BAR in it post WWI format.
Best in it's class? an FAL or G3 is half the weight, still holds twenty rounds, and still goes full auto. Hell, the BAR is no pussy cat on full auto anyway. the damn barrel reciprocates and drags the muzzle all over the place.

As in most other things, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

If everyone liked the same type of gun, then there would only need to be one gun manufacturer making one model of gun to satisfy the demand.

But beauty isn't necessarily dependent upon how it pleases the eye as much as the mechanical and functional ability of a piece of hardware designed to meet a particular purpose. Military weapons just don't turn the crank for everyone, I guess, but I find them high up on my interest level. Just as there are some guns I have seen other people drooling over that don't even register on my radar screen at gun shows.

The hell I haven't. At the 1979 IPSC

World Shoot, in S Africa, I shot both the standard and Target model P210's, and wouldn't trade one of my customized lw Commanders for two of them. Ditto one of my CAR-15's for 2 SIG 223's, or a truckload of anybody's 308's, if I had to keep the damned things.
