Same here. There are a lot of very capable rounds that frankly often exceed my old-school stuff, but the old-school stuff still works as well as it always has. Even though changing could be a true "upgrade", for me personally it's not worth the cost & hassle at this stage to do so.
If a young guy asked my suggestions, they may well be different from what I personally use, simply because he wouldn't have the inertia/ballast/baggage of decades invested in the old school stuff. But for me, that baggage (for lack of a better term) is a big consideration. I gave in to the .300BK itch six or eight years ago, and even as much as I like it, I'm not planning on expanding my roster of calibers any further.
