ranges. The only real use for the thing is to knock holes in THINGS that require more power (at the target) than say, a 300 Win Mag BAR can offer. Like propane tanks, storage tanks at oilfields, shipyards, or big transformers, at power plants, or RR or 18 wheeler tanker cars. Why pay that much for the match .50 ammo, hmm? Go thru all the gyrations with laptop, rangefinder, ballistics calculators, etc, for what?

Heck, I don't know. I just LIKE shooting my .50s! I don't really need a reason to do it, do I? Well, they really help when I want to take out a few trees too, so I guess they are useful for that. :)

Hey! We got a lot of rain today, so maybe tomorrow I can take some time and shoot my spotter/tracer rounds. I have been afraid of starting a forest fire as dry as it has been around here.

For what? How about for fun?

If you can afford the ammo, then who cares?

Amen, brother!

Setting up hard targets and hitting them with incendiary and spotter-tracer rounds is a real hoot. Of course, it's pretty unlikely you'll find any portable target that will last very long under that sort of punishment. One of my workers brought out some 25 pound cast iron weights off of his weight lifting set and we blasted them all to bits. You just have to be careful to use something that won't cause a richochet if you use AP or regular ball ammo. Launching a 650 to 750 grain projectile up into the air to land lord knows where is not a real good thing to do.

Gotta admit I have been bitten by the 50 bug.

So far, first time I shot was in competition. Hella of a way to shoot a new upper and get introduced to the 50s. I came in last, LOL.

Second time, Desert shoot, 70 rounds in 2 days. Whew! Had alot of fun.

Third time, at Chabot gun club. Monday afternoon only. Paper targets not as much fun as lawn mower, gongs, and propane w/oxy bottles.

Get yours while you have a chance. California senate committee is at it again to ban the 50.
