1900 fps, 5" 38 Casull. 30 carbine, 50m, does an ok job, even with ball. beating that performance is EASY with modern autoloaders. Yes, 90 grs is 18% less bullet wt, but the 30c is 1750 fps or less at 50m, took on SERIOUSLY more-motivated, better armed men than today's punks, and the ball bullet wasted 1/3rd or more of its power on overpenetration, too. You use the pistol at 10 ft and less. so muzzle velocity and impact velocity are one and the SAME. plus a .36 bore has twice the frontal area of a .30 bore, and you get REAL expansion of a jhp at such speeds.
