So all you are doing, by "opening up" on attacking groups, at longer ranges, is making them slow down, use cover, etc. At your first few hits, they will back off, wait until dark. Then they will easily overwhelm you, before you can hit at most a dozen of them. So just how MANY rds of 308 are you going to NEED, to "defend the retreat", hmm? At most, a 30 rd mag,on any given occasion. If you need more, you are going to lose, because there are just too many of the enemy, or you are missing too much. In either case, you lose.

You have been invited many times to watch a skilled rifleman make hits on bobbing, dodging, weaving targets at 300 yards and more. You were even offered an all expenses paid round trip but you sissied out.
Just because you can't make hits at a distance because you handicap yourself with a shorty CAR and lack the ability doesn't mean that nobody is able to make good hits. More fantasy nonsense.

sure, when LOTS of guys fire LOTS of rds, at lots of guys, there's SOME random hits. I OFFERED,and STILL offer $5000 against $500, to ANYONE who can get 6 hits out of 10 shots, on a torso that I hold over head, and dodge with, at 200m. in a 30 second span, with me pulling it down every 3-4 seconds, to pop up elsewhere in 3-4 seconds. Consider the bet to be ONGOING, anytime, any body, any rifle, any load, any firing position, any sights. Broad daylight, you can have any ear protection you want.
NOBODY can do it, just like nobody can get 50% hits on the regular 16 yd trap, using a rifle. Some things are flat IMPOSSIBLE, and untill you get 50+% hits, it's STILL just luck, hit or miss, just like heads or tails in a coin toss is STILL just luck.
in any thing that has 2 possible outcomes,it's COMMONPLACE to get "strings" of 3-5 in a row of one outcome or the other. So you have to go at LEAST 10 times, to establish the REAL probability. We KNOW that 50-50 is the REAL probability of a cointoss outcome. You want to KID yourself that getting 2-4 hits out of 10 shots is something besides LUCK, that's all. You are believers in consciousness taking priority over existence. You THINK that that "50 millionFrenchmen can't be wrong". Well that's incorrect. EVERYONE was wrong about the Earth being flat, about the sun revolving around the Earth, etc. You are wrong about NOT having to get over 50% hits for it NOT to be luck, too.
