You might want to try using the smooth surfaced .312 inch wide trigger on your S&W. I believe it to be the fastest S&W trigger.
If the trigger reach is too long, try the Hogue rubber grips. Your middle finger will fit around the grip easier and the absence of backstrap rubber will shorten the trigger distance.
Also consider placing your grip as high as possible on the revolver. This will allow you to arc your wrist downward and take the recoil more inline with your arm. This serves to lessen the muzzle rise during recoil and cut the shot-to-shot recovery time.
Bowling pins make for great practice. They're loads of fun! They also help you develop the rhythm needed for fast, accurate shot strings. Space them one foot apart, thirty feet away.
The best front sight color for bowling pins in bright light is probably black. In dark conditions, I found that the best front sight color was "hot pink". When I shot pin matches I took a lot of kidding over my revolver's hot pink front sight, but it worked.
