I shoot Benchrest, a couple of different types of targets: USBR & ARA. Also a little silhouette.
Anyone else out there been bit by this particular brand of shooting madness:confused:
*Note* The first time you get a benchrest target in your sights at 50yds, you will redefine the term 'Humility';)

Hi Bolo!

Saw a link to here from .22world and thought I'd stop by. I don't shoot benchrest due to a lack of a benchrest! I've been praticing my positions and have found enough humility in THAT!;)

HOWEVER...

I did just buy a nice "shooting chair" from a poor widow who's handicapped husband is no longer with us. This thing looks great! Kind of like a bechrest on a swivling chair. :spinny: It has a back rest, right armrest and a prop bar that extends out in front with a rifle rest on that. The whole thing has QD atachments for the square tubular steel leags and supports, with camo covered PADDED cushions! Talk about deluxe! Sure beats throwing it down into the red sand and shooting prone with the ants!:D I'm looking forward to trying it out today, before it gets too hot. I mean since I'm gonna be using padded cushions and all I wouldn't want to stress myself out by breaking a sweat or anything! Maybe I'll just bring a beach umbrella, it wouldn't be the first time!:D

Anyway, this new chair has got to be the closest thing to a benchrest that I'll probibly ever get to and I'm looking forward to using it. I'll let you all know how it goes later. Time to load up for the range with my new "portable benchrest"!

B, They're working better in a different gun than I first tried them in. No digicam, someday. The chair I'm talking about is sorta like this one: http://a1460.g.akamai.net/f/1460/13...elas/en/content/Item/22/60/65/i226065sq01.jpg

The above seems to be an "improved" version(?). It works pretty well. It's portable, weighs ~12-14#s and has a camo carry bag.

When I go to my "personal" range I try not to take too much junk! An old shooting jacket, a "few" rifles... the umbrella! :) I have to say there was no one there today, except me! When there has been I typically meet the nicest people! They have invited me over to thier homes, though I have yet to persue those invitations.

This is one piece of gear that isn't junk! I got some really nice groups and was able to tune in a reflex sight that I had recently installed. Unfortunatly, SOME dumbass forgot to put the .30cal ammo can of 1500 rnds of .22lr ammo into the truck! 3 bricks each of Federal Gold Medal Target, Wolf Match Extra and Win T22 Target! Oh look there it is right on the floor where I left it!! I did get a bando of .223Rem that kept me busy for a few hours!:)

{edit}
That should read "1 brick ea." And you will have to wiat until I can have an adapter made that converts the forward rifle rest to allow the gimble of the gattlin' gun to mount on the above! That should RULE!:D:D

sorry, this stuff is as meaningless as

is shooting pool. Without the windflags, there is no such thing as relaibly grouping this tightly, much less from realistic field firing positions.

Man, I hate to say it, but this unregistered guy is WAY too serious!

What do you do for fun, Mr. Unregistered? Don't you shoot anything just for the enjoyment of it? Do you own a gun just because it was an excellent piece of workmanship? Or try to shoot a five shot group with all the holes touching just to see if you could do it?

Granted to each their own, but please don't call someone else down simply because they think differently about this than you do.

"You are only outgunned if you MISS!"

That's a quote attributed to Jeff Cooper that I use as a sig line in a forum some of the posters here are familiar with. :p

Wind flags? Yes Please! - 3 at 50yds.:D

I ain't perfect - but I'm GAINING on it.

Having FUN while doing it too:nuts:

That[s baloney, and Jeff knows it

you can EASILY get lots of good hits, and still get killed. Especially if using ball ammo. Cirillo had a guy still be functional after taking two chest hits with 00 buckshot, at 6 and 12 ft ranges.

And of course Cirillo is GOD!NOT! Besides buckshot or .33 caliber round balls, stopping power is not their major strongpoint. But if you want tight grouping at range with some practical application try shooting through a ten inch opening in a wall at 950 meters with an M24 loaded with 172 grain accuracy loads in order to disable a KPV-M heavy MG. Talk about anal retentive shooting, especially when everyone for half a mile is watching from some nook or cranny. No pressure at all.

Wait until unregestered claims that shot is pure BS, that you can't reliably hit at that range.

Then let him tell you you can't engae movers at all reliably....unless they're under 100 yds.
