Here we go......I never claimed I was tough because of such a thing. The load was a very soft lead, 230 gr lrn, with about 4 grs of Bullseye.
...The 1911 would not cycle, until I shortened the mainspring by 2 coils, and the recoil spring by 3 coils.
A .45acp loaded with 4.0 grains of Bullseye behind a .452 diameter, 230-grain lead bullet is still over 700 fps; and is only 1.5 grains below the maximum charge of 5.5 grains. (5.6 grains makes it a +P load.)
