I got an invitation to hunt on a Friends 400 acre farm, so opening day I packed up Dog and guns and made the 30 mile trip to the farm. I got out and loaded up the old Browning 12 Gauge Auto Five and started walking with my Dog through a stubbled and brushy area. No more than fifty yards in She alerted and with the tip of her tail vibrating I knew She was on a bird. Sure enough, out flushed a Rooster and I hit it with a load of 7 1/2's. It fell in a area of thick brush so I just waited for Storm to dig it out which She did and brought it back and dumped it at my feet. It hit me that I was now done. One Bird only for the first two day's of the Season, two after that. All that prep for less than five minutes of Hunting. Oh well. Loaded up with a very disgusted Dog and went home. I'll go back next week sometime.
