I was just reading the October 2004 edition of Backpacker Magazine. Interesting article for those that have no knowledge of how to properly pack their ruck.

Good advice Garand. I'll bet that will work with the Barney backpack too.

I used to read articles about packing my pack, and when out in the field I would have used those same articles for business between my cheeks, and not the chewing ones. I find that no mattter how my pack is packed, whatever I need most at any given moment is not within easy reach. I also find that no matter how they say to distribute the weight, I have to resdistribute it to make my back or hips feel better. I think when I pack, I also out a little of Murphy into my backpacks!

Murphy's Law of backpacking: What you need is always at the bottom, and the weight is distributed exactly right to put the most stress on your back.
