once it's shtf, those birds will be preying upon YOUR game and livestock. So they will have to go. You may not want to eat prairie dogs, armadilloes, chucks, skunk or opposum, but they will be tearing up your garden and eating your baby chicks, wild birds, etc, so they have to go. Ditto dogs, cats, coyotes, fox, bobcat, unfit farm animals. But you don't want to blast them with a .45 or .45. and call in every enemy or contagious hanger-on for a mile radius!.

A BB gun quiet subsonic .22 rd, thru the AR's 223 silencer and the Ciener .22lr conversion unit, that's the ticket. Around a homestead, you'll have chances to gather small game and remove pests, but few of those times require more speed than the 10 seconds required to swap from 223 to .22lr. If you need the rifle swiftly, it will probably need to be 223. So, swap to .22lr only if you see an immediate need for it, and as soon as possible, switch back to 223 softpoints, in case you have a real problem, get a shot at a deer, hog or a coyote at longer range than the subsonic 22 can handle, or if there's trouble with men.
