I have a better idea, let's reduce the convict population. They have NEVER accomplished anything.

Why does the "Great One" hate the military so?, What have we ever done to him?, and what is he bumping his gums about this time. Most of our military is in a constant stand-by mode, and no hopes for peace as much as a soldier. WEe have been short-changed for 8yrs under Clinton, cut backs really started under Bush(41), but became severe, and deep under Clinton. We have been scorned, put down, lied to, lied about, and been calkled everything but a good human being buy the very people who sleep deepl;y because we man the walls where ever they may be. The people I hear scream the loudest about the "military abuses" wouldn't join as its beneath their status, and not worht the effort. Sorry rant mode off, just venting.

Somewhere along the way he failed in the military. It's left him bitter, and an authority hater ever since. Maybe he wanted to see combat, (God knows why), and he never got the real life experiences some of us in his generation did. I really don't care. From what his DD214 say's, he did his share, and stood his watch. But he took the criminal road and became a Cop-hater. He reminds me of the poem by Rudyard Kipling. "Tommy" was the nickname for British soldiers. "It was Tommy this and Tommy that, and Tommy go away!, but it was thank you Mr. Thompson when the Bands began to play." Oh yes, thank you Mr. Thompson when we got into the fray!"

He did his duty, if you consider sleeping on guard duty, honourable service! Some of us don't.

I don't know about his sleeping on guard duty. If he did it at Ft. Gordon, GA he was a bad soldier. If he had done it in a combat zone, it was potential manslaughter to his squad mates. As a nineteen year old buck sergeant, I ordered my squad members to wake me up to stand their guard watches if they felt too tired. Only one ever did. I told him "I've walked as far as you have today, carried as much trash, (infantry gear) as you have, but if you think you need more rest, have a good sleep." He looked very ashamed and stood the rest of his watch. He was a very good soldier and won a Silver Star later.

Well, it's something HE bragged about "not doing much but sleeping on guard duty" which was his reason for thinking he can sneak into military bases and steal the guns and ammo he wants because they'll all be sleeping like him.

Of course he was 150 South of the Korean DMZ, he thought it was a war zone about to be overrun at any time, use your own judgment.

Actually MELVIN was terrified of being within 150 miles of the DMZ!
