I'm thinking about getting a couple of these. Anyone have experience, good OR bad, with them? Are they pretty good new AKs or what?

Any better suggestion for a better one for a comparable price? What's the best out there?

"loaners" should be silenced, $50, used .22 autos, man. you could have one GOOD rifle for the price of a couple of these third world clunks. People who won't even buy their OWN guns and ammo (much less TRAINING) really aint worth saving, ya know. They've got HORRENDOUS other failings, count on it, cause they dont THINK responsibly.

279 bucks is dealer cost.I own one of these and it's perfectly fine. It's lighter than my chinese stamped reciever ak, and alot lighter than my polytec preban underfolder with the milled reciever. It shoots fine, and takes 30 round mags and drums. We ran it through some impromptu testing one time, and after letting it soak in a quagmire of mud and gunk(and after we made sure the bore wasn't blocked) we fired her with no sweat, and no jams(most ar's would seize up after that).Best groups we got with it at 100m was 3 inches using some old norinco sp ammo.

You can't go wrong with most AK's, and I'd wager you'll be happy with a wasr 10.If the AWB sunsets like it should I'd wager the price will go down, plus the availabilty of AK and other weapons will go up.

Thanks to everyone (except the poacher) for th goodadvice, listing of experiences, etc. One day I might understand what andy/223 fan is trying to babble about, but that doesn't negate the good experience given by the rest of you.
