One of the ways we used to deal with andy was to ignore him.:punch:

There's no way you could be aware of what this guy was like, it's not your fault. :shrugs:
You would have been attacked and called any combination of names and then most likely called out to a shoot out.:uzi:

Don't sweat it Aztec, at least he's not around to raise hell now.

Well, I've since read a few more of his (Andy's) posts and can see why you guys are sensitive about him. He was a certifiable asshat and I should have looked at the thread date. Not much sense in responding to anything that old.

My bad.

Aztec, andy's been away for quite a while.
It's a good supposition that if a thread has Andy in it, it's:
a.) Old, even if someone else responded recently
b.) not worth posting in.

Well, this is something that's starting to puzzle me here, Magnum. I find some of Andy's threads, like the one I blundered into here, that have been ignored for years and others that are still hot topics and active today. It sort of makes me want to go DUH?

Clearly the guy was an idiot. Clearly almost every thread he started was just to initiate a fight.

Why is his trash still on the board? Why don't your moderators do a little homework and clean this garbage out of the system?

I've been here just a few days and this website is starting to feel like a minefield. Some places it's safe to step and others it's not. Seems like a funny way to run a railroad if I may say so.

I don't understand about your comment about a minefield, could you explain?

I'll be happy to explain, Garand. I was jumped for accidentally replying to an old thread by this "Andy" fool. But if you look around there are any number of "Andy" threads still going hot and heavy.

My point is which of his stupid threads are acceptable to respond to and which ones aren't.

Take his thread about "killing a man" for example. Then think about it all from a new member's point of view. I don't know who the idiots are here and who isn't. I don't know who to talk to and who not to talk to. But I'm learning real fast that half the people here just seem to sit around waiting to climb your frame if you say something they don't agree with.

Well I do hope, I'm not one who "climbs your frame". I guess that it is surprising to see someone re-cycling what alot of us consider garbage. On the otherside, because you don't know the history, you have no idea that we considered his work garbage. You will notice that when it comes to gunkid, that we are VERY opinionated. I hope to see many more of your posts.

Sorry for reviving the "kill a man thread." It's just one of those things that jumped out as an inexcusable bout of verbal excrement. I responded to it primarily out of disgust for gunclod's(I like that name for him) blatant ignorance of human nature. Wholesale chaos(which he seemed dead convinced would be the only rule) is a temporary condition in human affairs. It will end whether that means we, as a species, get back to a semblance of civilization or we go extinct. We have to function as a group(whether we want to or not) or we die. "No man is an island unto himself."

Nope, Garand, I've got you down in my "good guy" column. :)

Heli, don't worry about the threads you revive. I figure if there is anything here that isn't fit for comment, it shouldn't be here in the first place.

I think there is a lot of threads by some clowns from the past that shouldn't be here. Can't the Mods prune the deadwood?

If so, why don't they?

I think I have to claim the dubious honor of initially reviving the "killing a man" thread, much to my sorrow. I actually hadn't heard of GK before this board (but have heard a whole lot about him since). I too revived this and a few other of his threads not knowing any better.

As far as folks here jumping your frame, let 'em jump. They'll get over it or they won't. I, for one, am glad to have you here and look forward to many interesting and thoughtful posts from you.

I think I remember reading a post by Rich Z about banning posters and editing posts that would apply to your question Aztec. If I remember the gist of it correctly, Rich's position is that if the 2nd is worth respecting, then the rest of the Constitution and its Ammendments are too. In short, the 1st Ammendment applies here just like the rest of them. With only a few (if any) exceptions, members are free to post here no matter how offensive or far south of wrong their posts may be. It is our right under the 1st just as it is our right to own arms under the 2nd.

I am suprised that threads that haven't been posted to in say a year or so haven't been deleted just to conserve storage space or bandwidth.

Thank you, Cutter. If I may borrow one of the famous liberal mantras: Can't we all just get along?":)

Makes me want to puke to even jokingly use their lines but I didn't come to this forum to fight with anyone or take over anything. I'd much rather talk guns than trash. I've NEVER see anyone win an internet argument. You can beat a fool into the dirt and they'll swear they really made a monkey out of you.

So it's a total waste of time I try hard not to allow myself, even if I can get about as worked up as the next bear.

This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
