Yeah, like asking which is the best automobile to drive.....

Best thing to do is to go to a decent gun shop or a gun show and handle a few. See how they feel in your hand. Bring it up quickly to eyelevel and see if the front and read sights line up immediately. How's the trigger pull feel to you?

Generally quality costs more. Generally you can see and feel quality. Are you going to carry it? How much is a RELIABLE gun worth to you? Ask around, but NOT to someone trying to sell you something.

A .50AE Desert Eagle as a carry gun? Maybe if you are Schwartzenegger (sp?), but for more normal sized folks you would probably walk with a slight tilt from the weight and size of the thing.

I would imagine it would be quite embarrassing to have your pants fall to your ankles when you stood up suddenly.

Yeah, I guess I would like to see the rig that could conceal a Desert Eagle .50AE on a normal person? Maybe if you were like RoboCop and hollowed out your leg you could do it.

But another consideration to think about: If you could pull off carrying something like that and you actually DID need to use it in a street scuffle, you would probably get killed anyway. Scuffle, ensues, Ol' Big Mack whips out his trusty DE and lights off a couple of rounds at the bad guys. Unbeknownst to him, a cop has just rounded the corner behind him and since he doesn't know what is going on is screaming at Mack to drop his gun. Of course, Big Mack doesn't have ear drums any longer and cannot hear the commotion behind him and turns with the gun in his hand just by chance. The cop, thinking Big Mack just murdered a couple of people, and was turning to fire on him instead of dropping the weapon, drops Mack with a couple of .40S&Ws to the rib cage.

Yeah, fanciful, I know. But the .50AE is L-O-U-D!! You can feel your nose hairs move when you lite one off. First time I ever fired one (AMT V) I not only put the bullet into the black but the damned target stand fell over. Probably just a coincidence, but I WAS impressed!
