up for shooting-aid. Set up for shooting aid, sling aint worth a CRAP for carrying the rifle. Shooting sling wont let you carry the rifle in "assault" or low ready position. So it's a stupid waste. In thick woods, at night, etc, just REMOVE the 4 oz GI bipod, spring loaded grip on its forend mount, and stow it, either in a belt case or your pack. If you weren't so stupid as to have chosen a 10 lb 308, you could keep your rifle a LOT handier, ready to save your life with.
