At least he's objective, discussing pros and cons; acknowledging a crossbow's limitations and drawbacks compared to guns and conventional bows both. A lot of weapon-recommendation videos and posts are more like sales pitches and sermons than objective discussions.

I'm not into archery at all, but if I were to get into it, it would probably be with a crossbow. I tend to be cheap with a lot of things and would probably never talk myself into spending what a new longbow or compound bow costs, so that means shopping used bows only. And unfortunately there's not a lot of used bows that work for a left-handed guy with long arms. Basically, I'm not likely to find a used bow that works for me, and I'm not willing to pay for a new one; so crossbow would be the most logical option in my case. If I were to get into archery at all, which I may never do anyway...

the slingbow is the way to go, John. Works with either hand. Get a thumbring or simple rotating release. Check on Chief AJ and the backyard bowyer on youtube. but no form of arrow launcher or slingshot is even 10% as good for foraging, much less combat, as the AR, 22 unit and silencer.

get a takedown pellet rifle for small stuff, and a slingbow for bigger critters, if you live where you can't access firearms. but get started on preps to get OUT of such a retarded country!

Well Melvin, slow or not some bad guy killed 3 people last week in Toronto Ontario in a short time frame, all within a 200 yard radius! I think in Canada during the last 20 years or so makes around 6-7 people killed that way.

Ummm... The Arkansas game & fish regulations are who told - and tells - me that. If you look up "legal hunting equipment", they list four kinds of bows; long, recurve, compound, and cross. The only mentions of slingshots (which is what a slingbow inescapably is) is in the same sections that discuss blowguns, spearguns, irritant gas devices, and and other such illegal things.

If you want to trust a guy on YouTube saying that something is legal when the rule book says it's not, have at it. It's not the guy on YouTube who you're going to encounter in the woods during deer season, and who will determine whether to confiscate your personal property including your vehicle and the completely-legal ccw gun that you have on you. It will be the game & fish officer - the guy with the badge, the gun, and the rulebook that says that it's ILlegal.

As far as 'why care about violating hunting laws', it's fairly simple. I don't like breaking the law unnecessarily. I can use a slingshot to hunt deer and risk losing a bunch of personal property, losing (or at least increasing the cost of) my business bonding due to intentional criminal activity, possibly losing customers when they see that their security guy doesn't care about breaking the law, plus have to pay whatever the actual fine is.

Or I can hunt deer with any number of legal things currently on hand, including several suppressed guns, with no risk of any of that.

Easy call for me personally. I'm totally OK with not hunting deer with a slingshot. If the urge ever strikes me, I can also hunt them with a long bow, recurve bow, compound bow, or crossbow. Or even a muzzleloader.

Just no hunting deer with a slingshot, blowgun, or pepper spray. I can live with that.

crossbow is very slow to reload, altho 3x as fast as a musket. But it's not concealable and the slingbow IS.
