we spend a lot of time talking about SHTF, and such. It just seems that we forget that not all S hitting the Fan is man made.

This is the willow fire that is burning in AZ near the town of payson.

I was at the post office picking up my mail when I saw this and took the picture. We're having a house built and it won't be ready until the end of August. In the mean time, we sold our existing house. As a result, we are house sitting and all our mail is being sent to the new address - the post office was really good and will hold mail for a new construction.

I've been photographing every step of the construction of the new house. I know where every wire, pipe, etc. is located in the walls, ceiling, and floors. (what did we do before digital cameras?)

Anyway, that's why I had the camera with me at that moment.

which is why our gear and planning is flexible. we'renot foolish enough to buy into a single scenario or that everything will go the way we plan.

Yep, I live right in hurricane alley.

Had a mini SHTF in '98 with major wildfires running through our area and had to get out.

What Goonkid doesn't get is that WHEN we have to get out, most of us have at least one other place to go. Yep, bug out to your bug in point. Which we did. Worked just fine.

fire bad

hey ASLAN good pics! glad to hear your new home is progressing.
hope you move in soon. I'm sure you know about the aspen? fire we had on summerhaven we had down here in T town last year? i had to work recovery on our propane tanks up there, and man let me tell you it was utter devestation.

we lost 240 customers in alittle over 24 hours, nothing but foundations / piping/ car hulks/ash/axe/hammerheads. real, real sad for my friends who lived up there, there were close to $1,000,000 homes up there.some of the l.p. tanks exploded like 500lb. bombs. i found one l.p. cyl. made in 1935! that my friend is old.

it was a real sad deal all the way around. I had to sit in on some f.e.m. a. meetings to represent the gas co. that was kinda cool !

but just getting away minus your wheelbarrel is a good thing when it comes to fire in ripe timber! thanks

fire sucks big time. Many of the AZ fires can be blamed on then enviromental natzi idiots. They have successfully blocked the thining and maintenance of most of AZ's forrests.

Thanks for the compliments on the picture. The house is progressing, but there's still a lot to do.

somebody will already be AT wherever

u THINK u r going. :) When it's GENERAL shtf, everybody is starving, etc, you have no CLUE what will be what, other than that everybody is going to be shooting at everybody else. :)

It might just be that somebody already IS where I'd be going.

It's also possible that unless you knew exactly where to go, it would be the last place a starving person would even think about going.

If you are starving, are you going to head into a desolate barren desert? Or wuld you head for forrests and the like?

You have no idea how anyone has planned or prepared and it scares you.

Here's another little tid bit for you. Around here, there are quite a few Mormons. Seems that disaster preparedness and having a YEARS worth of emergency supplies for their families isn't that uncommon and is pretty much a doctrine of their beleifs.

I guess that means that they won't be starving, and since they seem to have no problem with firearm ownership, I suspect that their communities will survive pretty well.

I guess that also blows your fantasy out of the water.

While I disagree on most of their doctrines about the hereafter, Mormons REALLY have their stuff together for the here and now. I grew up around mormons and my parents eventually became mormons. Let me agree with you that a year's suppply is for those that can't afford much. Hell, I think at their weddings, they're given about that much as wedding gifts. Most of the ones I visited had basements that would make a small grocery store seem understocked.

You're also right that they have little problem with firearm ownership and even less problem dealing with thieves.

The whole point is, that the number of people who are prepared, have their act together, and who will have no problem banding together as a society is actually quite large. This is in direct contrast to the GK's idea of the perfect armageddon that he keeps blabbering about.

He will find that things aren't very likely to go his way at all...
