Well I ran across another home less rifle at the gun shop.

Very clean used Siaga in 7.62x39 the thing would pretty much pass for new.

The thing was priced under $200 so I plunked some money down and put it on layaway.

Figure with minor work it would make a good cache gun.

Hi Todd,

Please let us know how it shoots. A friend has one and gets 4 - 6in groups at 100 yds. I hope that yours does much better.

man, that's POOR shooting, with a

10" barreled Contender, even firing from the Weaver and iron sights. Either the ammo suck, the barrel's of VERY poor quality, the shottist sucks, or something stresses the barrel very badly in that sort of receiver.

GK-Have you been drinking Hoppe's #9 again?

We're not talking about a Contender.

Rika- How many rounds has been throught the one your friend has? May sound odd but I've noticed that some AK's need ALOT of shooting before the barrel is really broken in.

The SAR-1 that I had was that way. Also was that one scoped? Some are capable of better accuracy than the issue sights allow.

Todd, I called and asked. He has about 500 rds through it. Its the one with the black synthetic (US style) sporter stock and fore-end. It has a 4 power scope mounted. I think that maybe he just got a lemon. He has since mostly abandoned it for the SKS. I don't think its the shooter since I can shoot it only a little better than he can.

Sure hope that yours shoots good.

RIKA :)

Well I picked it up today from the gunshop.

If work allows I'll range test it Saturday with 3-4 different types of ammo to try in it.

OH Hell!!!:D

I just field stripped it and guess what?

It's brand new!

No wear on any internal parts at all. None on the bolt face which has that black enamel finish on it and nothing on the gas piston or any crud up in the gas tube.

OK, I got back from the range today.

I just used Wolf FMJ becasue that's all they had.

Groups were stringing horizontally. Similar to this :):::) due to the poor ergonimics of the grip and that trigger pull. Though the vertical dispersion was only about 2" at the most.

This gun just begs to be refitted with US parts including a pistol grip and stock assembly rather than that freaky sporter set up. My hand is large and I can't see how anyone with small to medium hands could shot this thing very well unless they choked up on the grip.

The next question is Choate or K-VAR?

At least it shot consistendly even if it was stringing. Now you have another fun gunsmithing project ahead of you. You got a good buy for under $200.

Oh, duhhh. What range were you shooting at? Scope or irons?
