When they don't show up, they don't show up. It's a planned contingency. The hurry? depends on the situation doesn't it?

Fallout? bio-weapon? Fire? - The hurry is the difference between living and dying. Did you plan any of your directions to bug out based on wind and terrain?

Why a particular place? Hmm, supplies, defendability, shelter, water, all come to mind. (remember, your caches are particular places, assuming you even have any.)

Some rally points aren't even the final destination. They are just a place to pause, re-group, and take stock of what the exact situation really is.

If you are just going to randomly wander around, how do you know you will not be heading towards trouble?

Take a minute to think before you post some of your thoughts, you'd probably post a lot less, and be wrong a lot less often too.

well, why are we bugging out? Who is they, in this context? Your thread, probably should have been a response inside another thread so that it would make some kind of sense, instead of making you look crazy.

so why would we be in a hurry? Hmm....maybe we are trying to get away from: fires, radiation, nerve agents, toxic gas, invading armies, aliens, gangs, flooding, or whatever. Something where moving slowly could get you killed. using a map and moving in a hurry can get you to safety, while avoiding potential problems.

Sometimes you had better move quickly.

You are quick to criticize, but cannot articulate a coherent argument. You seem to be positive everything will only go the way you expect it to go. Most people are smarter than that and will have plans and contingencies. You have ideas and little else.

Family, that is the first thought that comes to mind. Speed/timings will depend on the scale/type of WROL. An intelligent initial plan should also contain numerous backup plans to cover plans in case the initial one fails.

Flexibility, backed up with planning for multiple contingencies. There are situations where moving quickly will keep you alive, and ones where moving slowly will. The trick is to be prepared for both.
