with a mere 60 sq ft of gillnet. now why would 30x as much netting, used more intelligently, baited, with the help of the raft, not get you 5x as much fish, hmm? They are eating 6 lbs of fish a day and have a surplus. So with their little bitty net, they are catching 8 or more lbs of fish per day. You can have nets set all over the place, and baited, when you have 2000 sq ft of netting. That's bound to mean a lot more success with the netting. 40 lbs of fish per day, 20 days, and half that much for another 10 days, as you make more and more netting, means 1000 lbs of fish. That's 350,000 calories, 3500 per day for the 100 days. You can probably take 5 lbs of fish per day thru the ice. which is 1800 calories. so The extra 100, 000 calories mean that you CAN last 200 days, without having caught a big animal. With the extra 100 days to hunt and trap and tracks in the snow to show you what to do and where, your odds of catching the big animal go way up, too. So the 200 days CAN be done, by a man who really knows what's what and this is without losing much, if any weight. I could spare 50 lbs if I had to do so. and still be 17 BMI. so as not to be pulled from the show. That's 50 more days of staying power right there.
