much more effective range, QUIET,faster to reload, altho one that's concealable would only have more range if the arrows were poisoned. If I was stuck in Commie China, no gun, I'd first make a can for an ak and another for a pistol, and then make a slingbow, TAKE a rilfe and pistol, can them and use them to get the hell out.
