All that ammo and no place to go.......hmmm that would be ok, but if I had to lug ammo I am going with a .22LR period! Now for the choice of firearm - lets eee, a 10/22 might be nice but if it had to last give me a bolt action any day. Of course I could always get in better shape and carry heavier ammo. if I did that I'd opt for a rifle in .308 - also probably a bolt action. Lots more durable than a semi auto. Yet I am drawn back to the 10/22 and the fact I could fit 500 rounds in one pocket. Yeah my 10/22 has taken a licking and keeps on ticking, so I guess maybe I would go against my own better judgement and grab that over a bolt action.

I'll tell you what, you grab the couple to a few hundred pound bags of grain, and shoot the steer in the head to drag it way and I'll just wait for you to show up and help myself while you are busy dragging. By the way, if you are going for a steer at all, why kill/drag instead of leading it away is beyond me - heck they know how top walk. Better yet, why not steal a truck too, and put all the goods in the back. Or would a truck be no good because you are trying to be secretive because the SHTF?

If the fan really was hit by the poop, I mean really hard by a big messy wad of it, you are not getting a steer or grain unless you live in Pondunksville, and it was not Podunksville that was hit first. And if it wasn't hit first you can bet that good old Uncle Joe is gunna be waiting to slugs to come along to try to steal his steers.

Even if you do manage to get them real good eats, how are you going to keep 400 pounds of meat fresh, and keep the grain from moulding? You want to make jerky out of the meat. Hmm, I guess no one will see the smoke, or of course you could do it with sunlight and salt, and wind up food poisoning or some other malady. Remember you will not be sitting in your easy chair in the living room while the wife makes the jerky.

Are you kidding, I hope so, because this last scenario had me rolling and laughing so hard I almost knocked myself out of the chair.

As far as emergency supplies go, have them on hand now. Also have at least two caches (more is better) of supplies if possible. Waiting until the SHTF is great for you, but I would rather follow the motto that the dang boy scouts always seem to forget - Be Prepared.

Of course if you get caught with your pants down, so to speak, regardless of all preparation, then make for one of your caches. In the meantime, hit and run, with as little as is needed to sustain you for a few days time.

A .22 would be a great hit and run survival gun. Remember we are not talking winning a war here, or even looking for trouble but making it through the SHTF period WHEN AS PER THE INITIAL POST YOU ARE STUCK IN THE WOODS WITH ONE GUN AND THAT RIDICULOSLY LARGE AMOUNT OF AMMO. This woodsy period would only probably last until you can get together with some other patriots or people who see it the same as you do or until you surrender or wind up dying of food poisoning from all that food that went bad.

I agree fully with Rich Z. be prepared to be hunted and to hunt others, if ever the SHTF in a bad way, say like an invasion in which we wind up on the losing end as the invaded.
Best regards,
Glenn B
