u waste more money on dies, components, waste more time at the range, etc, and get a good, used BAR, alloy framed version in 308. It will serve just fine for any game too big for sport type hunting with an AR-15, and cost you a LOT less in practice ammo, and it wont beat you black and blue, either. That is, if you fit a shotgun style recoil pad to it. Boss Comp would be nice, too, but is probably a factory smiting return deal, and you wont get your money (probably $100 to install Boss)back if you sell it later. It wont cut the recoil, but it will reduce muzzle jump a bit, and it makes it considerably easier to can the rifle, if you so choose, and it also makes it easy to "tune" the barrel for best accuracy with any given load. The 308 is FAR more versatile than is any 45-70,and with the 2x as fast repeat hits, it's better for stopping charges, too.
