that being 2100 ft, and 308 bthp match ammo starting at 2600 fps, being down to 1600 fps or so at 700 yds.. 2100 fps AVERAGE velocity. Man walks at 2-4 mph, which is 3-6 fps. Even at 1/4 values, 20 degree angles, if you misjudge the guy's speed by .5 MPH, (very easy to do) a miss is extremely likely at such a range. Sideways man, moving across your front, a hit is most unlikely. That's a CONSTANT speed, not a DODGING, running man. The latter is VERY easy to miss at 200 yds, much less 700 yds. So much for 308 having ANY realistic range advantage over 223, for anything that matters, on MEN. The fact is, you'll mostly MISS at ranges WELL inside what a 223 can handle. 24"223's WIN at 600 yds, they AINT worthless at 700 yds, dumbass. 18" 308's ARE pretty helpless at 700 yds, tho, especially with plain based softpoint ammo.
So you SEE, dumbass, you CAN'T just blanket claim 308 is better at "long range"(and back it up with rangefiring) It MIGHT be, with IDEAL conditions, which never exist when you NEED to fire. Murphy sees to that.
