The defensive posture holds the advantage

Milatry doctrine is that the defender holds at least a 3 to one advantage over the attacking force and for good reason. The defender does get to pick his shots and pick them from well chosen positions that give them maximum advantage over the attackers. A well prepared defence forces the attacker into the "open" and makes him pay a primium for every foot. At night the defender can hunker down and the attacker has the burdan of closing in, making it though tangle foots, noisemakers and watch animals.

The attackers have to bring in all thier supplies the defender is sitting on his. This is the part of JD's plan I find really silly, somehow ill equiped refugee's are going to walk three or four hundred miles, fighting folks all along the way, foraging for food and water. When they finally "find" the prepared retreat of organized "survivalist" they are going to have the logistical means to topple a well prepared and defended retreat. Manned by well fed, very motivated folks using full ammo crates and five gallon pails of staple foods for furniture and having spent most of thier waking hours planning on how they are going to keep it.

It just doesn't make a bit of sence to me and defies history. Wandering around stealing from folks sure doesn't seems like a very bright idea to me.

who says anybody is going hundreds of miles? Who says he aint GETTING supplies as he needs them? Who says you GOT watch animals LEFT, that OTHER guys aint shot or poisoned them FIRST? who says you GOT enough manpower to BUILD any defenses, or watch all day and all night, hmm? You AINT got such a place, nor the people.

The attacker can always just bypass one place for the next, return at will. You'll STILL be there. He can shoot you in daylight, from 1/4 mile away, as you TRY to do your chores. Same thing for your horses, cattle, etc, of course.

You stupid <font color=red>*</font><font color=red>*</font><font color=red>*</font><font color=red>*</font>s "think" your neighbors WONT be the ones attacking you, but you are fos. They AINT any more ready for shtf than any ghetto resident is. They still shop for food every few days, they aint got crap in the way of survival supplies or abilities. U dont even KNOW everyone within a 5 mile circle of your home, much less a 100 mile circle, and they can cover 100 miles, on FOOT, in a week, preying upon others as they come. they can cover same distance in a few days, on a mountain bike, or horse, or drifting down stream in a raft or boat.

Tegf is absolutely right. Having been part of the arrackers and the defendwes many times that is the way it is. GunKid has never seen a shot fired in anger and simply does not know what he is talking about!

Sure, you bet, the "attacker" will just wander at will.

In reality he will spend 99.9% of his time trying keep his tummy from rumbling and slowly dying of starvation. The first time he gets sick or injured he will be history. Getting sick or injured are a certainy for a criminal constantly on the run, which he will be when there is no organized law enforcment to protect him. Gee, do I have to post the link to the hundreds of vigilante actions that took place in this country before the criminals became a endangered and protected speices again?

You have yet to give even one example of folks splintering into one man/women groups hunting each other for food. You can't, because thats not the way things go down in reality. In reallity folks band together, first in family groups then in multi-family groups and they just keep right on buliding till they have a settlement then a town then a city ect.

He fails to understand that the people that he will be able to shoot in the back for supplies, won't be the ones that have planned ahead, should the balloon ever go up. Your correct he will have a slow painful death starving to death while those that hunt him will be fed, rested and properly equipped.

based on his posts, it will be quick and unexpected. He’ll be shot by someone he doesn’t even know is there. Probably with a useless bolt action.
