The difference between thinking about something and doing it

We can think about things, read about things, see videos about things. But that doesn’t mean we know how to do those things. Until we actually do them, we don’t know the nuances or tricks involved.

case in point:

I wanted to upgrade my fog lights from factory to a better more powerful aftermarket set (Diode Dynamics SS3 pro amber, if you are curious). I watched several how to videos, read a bunch of how-tos, etc. I “knew” how to do it, and could describe the process like an expert.

except, every single write up and video skipped a couple of things.

first, on one side there is one additional cover over the light that needs to be removed. It was a major pain to deal with it from under the vehicle.

the other was how difficult it was to get the hex key in to tighten the lights down after properly aiming them.

neither one of those things would be obvious or even a consideration until you actually had to deal with them.

you cannot always anticipate how difficult something can be until you actually do it.

nothing about the install was technically difficult, or other than tightening bolts and plugging in a harness.

but there were challenges nonetheless.

without actually doing, you don’t know.

Sums it up nicely; about a whole lot of things. I've said it before, but while "thinking about things" is a good starting point, it's not enough on its own. If it was, all the time I spent as a boy thinking about WW2 and Playboy Bunnies would have made me Audie Murphy and Hugh Hefner all rolled into one, and that would obviously be an idiotic thing to claim or expect.

The alignment of thoughts, words, and deeds is a bridge to greatness. - I couldn't help getting a little philosophical.

Then there are folks.
And I don't know who to credit this to.
Probably the first person to overhear an ancient committee meeting or something similar.
"When all is said and done. More is said than done."
If I had my way that ought to be inscribed in Latin on the floor of the House and Senate.
But I think I know someone who it also fits. In fact 2-3 people.

At least the Jan. 6 committee is getting something done. "When all is said and done. Trump will be doing time wishing he had never said anything."

You gotta be kidding? That star chamber BS? That would make Stalin and Levanter Beria proud?

No kidding. Ignoring reality would make Vladimir Putin proud.
Well the Democrats are masters of BS and smoke and mirrors and the likes of Mitch "the turtle" Mcconnell are happy to felch it all out of them.

"Masters of BS and smoke and mirrors," you just described the Republican Party. Criminals often attempt to project their deficiencies upon their victims. Republicans have made projecting their deficiencies upon the Democrats a national pasttime. But enough already about politics. Firearms are much more interesting.
Sounds like you swallowed the DNC Blue Fool Aide pretty well.

Hope you enjoy the next war courtesy of the Biden crime family and the RINO enablers.

I see that you're projecting. The Republican Party has really done a number on you. I'll say a prayer for you.
Whatever, and I don't need any satanic prayers thank you very much.
I don't vote for people who worship at the alter of Molech with unborn children.
Nor those who pay homage to Marx, Lenin, Mao or Che'.

Wow! So you vote for Russian puppets? Good luck with that. The prayers of a righteous man will availeth much, expect things to turn around for you. You're welcome.

I think you may need to look in the mirror and think about it. One party has been historically anti gun and anti Christian. It isn’t the GOP.

one party has been anti law and order, it is not the GOP

one party broke the laws repeatedly in the last election cycle and sued to prevent audits and recounts.

one party made up Russian collusion to impeach a sitting President. Every single allegation has been proven to be false.

one party was burning down cities and targeting the police, it wasn’t the GOP.

unless you’re Muslim, your party doesn’t want you praying.

funny thing, several of the instigators have been identified as federal agents. If you watched any of the proceedings, you saw homeland refuse to say anything about how many feds were involved with it.

one person was killed for no good reason, she was within a few feet of police in full riot gear. They didn’t see her as a threat.

I get it it, you’re a rabid anti trumper….

I used to be very politically driven and vocal, but one benefit of my personal world being so totally screwed for the last several years now is that I genuinely, absolutely, don't care about the politics and headlines of the day anymore. I don't care about Biden, I don't care about Trump, I don't care about Justin Trudeau, and I don't care about Whoopi Goldberg. I don't even care who wins the super bowl. It's liberating.

Trump was harder on Russia than any President in a long, long time. Biden caved in and gave Putin everything he wanted. The Puppet wasn't Trump - if you were even slightly educated on it, you'd know every single charge was shown to be false. There never was any Russian Collusion. The Steele Dossier - which people are starting to go to jail for, was a complete fabrication.

Do some research beyond what the talking heads in the media say. You might learn something.

I'm a former US Army Military Intelligence Officer, ignorance is not bliss.

One party and its minions are infected with the deceit of fascism, the other was voted into the White House by America.
