the towns and cities, jobs, etc, before they HAVE to do so. Then they will leave in droves, with many killing others for their gear, women, booze, etc. Driving to wherever will be by far the most dangerous thing you ever attempted. If you don't get out WAY before 99+% even THINK of it, best be WALKING out, at night, thru the sewers if you are in the center of a big urban area. Best have BOB handy, and a mountain bike stashed at edge of town. Few towns are in such barren areas that 100 miles wont put you in an area of suitable woods, for fuel, food, water, shelter from the elements. etc. Except, that is, for ******* who live in the desert.

You're expecting some huge spasm, and it won't happen like that.

Ayn Rand was full of sh^t on much of her premise about the demise of society. It simply doesn't happen like that.

As for people leaving. Most won't leave, period, unless there's a nuke strike.

The flaw in your thinking, is that you don't! Your fantasy is narrow minded. It has to happen your way or its not SHTF! Your fantasy says that you can't survive in the desert, your fantasy says that people can't survive in the snow, your fantasy says you don't have to prepare. Which is why it is a fantasy!

A person that takes time to prepare and study his current enviornment can survive easily. Knowledge will keep you alive. The moment that you let your fantasy push reality out of the way, you are dead. You assume that everyone is stupid, surprise, they are not. You assume that you will be able to shoot the sheep for your supplies. Surprise, people that are dumb enough to let you shoot them, won't have been smart enough to pack the kit you require. Live the reality, forget the fantasy.

You know, sooner or later the people in the lifeboat realize that someone among them is not a team player, that is usually the next guy over the side, and often the last guy over because of how much things improve afterwards despite that guy's opinion of himself.

That was just a thought to ponder for us all, especially the guy who would likely be the next one in the water. It was not a suggestion!

Good thoughts here. Notice that Rome did not just fall appart. Residents lived in it well after the barbarians invaded and sacked the city.

So gunkid dreams. What's new.
