with one hand, sort of chest high hold. Not any faster than a fast man can draw, go 2 handed eye level and hit them, about 1.3 seconds., but quite a feat of eye-hand coordination. The problem with it, is under lethal stress, those nice nerve connections go to crap. 2 handed eyelevel pointing, I'll trust to about 10 ft, but then i want to at least se the front sight, "aiming" a bit low, cause the front sight is being held "high" for fast acquisition. at 10 yds, if you want reliable A zone hits, best have at least a crude sight picture.

at the matches, where they let the guys CHEAT, and get their bodies all 'aimed in" at the target before the starting signal, ie, pointing their hands, or even their guns, shutting their eyes, adjusting things, before shooting for real let them put their thumbs in their earholes for a hand start (for consistency, you see) good light, stationary targets, ear protection, and nobody shooting at them, sure, they can run 8" plate racks at 15 yds, without a sight picture. Nice, level firing, same placement of the plates, etc. But that's not combat.

I am quite skilled at one handed point shooting, able to( slowly) hit soda cans that way, at least 3/4, at 5 yds, but I'd not trust it beyond 4=5 ft of range, in an actual fight. It only takes me about another .15 second to be in the weaver point, and its well worth the time spent, to not MISS the vitals, and be better able to get repeat hits, brain him, swivel over and hit his buddy. One handed point shooting is for when you have to do something else with your other hand, hold an infant, drive, block a blow.

I showed the wife that I could hold the bb "rifle" in one hand, toss a soda can, hit it. 2 for 2 righthanded, then left handed, same thing and there was a stiff breeze moving the can around. you can quickly learn to do great "handgun work" with one hand on an AR carbine, too. The 22 unit helps to reduce the downrange risk of such stuff (by a lot). Dangerous to 1/4 mile is a LOT better than dangerous to 1mile+

...But that's not combat...
That's a real consideration right there, and worth repeating. I enjoy shooting as a sport. As much as it may translate or carry over to combat, fine, but I'm not thinking "combat" every time I set up plates. A lot of sports started out combat-related, but are now just sports; from ones as obvious as archery and the javelin, to something as mundane as the marathon, all stemming from combat origins but now just sports.

Shooting is the same. Just as archers and javelin throwers aren't inherently "preparing for combat" in their games and competitions, neither am I inherently doing so when I go out shooting, any more than nascar drivers are inherently preparing for some "Death Race 2000" event.

Life involves a degree of preparation, certainly; but if possible it also should involve substantial amounts of plain old enjoyment as well.

I could do all that stuff too, back in 1970.

shooting aint football, and at least i COULD do those things, and you never came close. :) and I'm still a lot closer to such skill levels than you'll ever get, and I can get it back in a week or so of full time training. You have no clue how to do that.

the above is fast and accurate shooting, on a moving target. If you think it's easy, in a 10mph cross wind, with either hand, one handed, TRY it. that soda can is moving sideways almost as fast as it's falling.

Who is "you?" As to the rest of it, all brag, no fact.

Is it genuinely impossible for you to simply be civil, rather than do an automatic leap to what amounts to junior-high playground posturing?

You know, I really try to do the whole "slow to anger" thing, but childish stupidity in the form of incompetent "glory-day" blatherings from the weird angry kid in the back of the bus, just kind of pisses me off for some reason; I can't seem to help it.

It's not genuinely 'pissed off', because I'm sitting here with a grin on my face; but the silliness and lameness of it just makes me shake my head at the same time.

shooting aint football...
Very good, John. You're right that pistol-shooting isn’t football; which is a better grasp of reality than you generally display. Kudos for that. Fwiw, it also isn’t airsoft, it isn’t archery, and it isn’t inherently about preparing for combat either. But one step at a time; don’t try to process too much at once. I know that welfare drugs can leave a person confused.

…at least i COULD do those things, and you never came close.
Remember, I’ve never claimed world-class status as you have. Yet although I’ve shown videos of what I can do (as have others); for some reason, for literally years now you've been afraid to do so.

As far as what we can ‘come close’ to in life… Well, I can walk into a store and walk out with a new gun on the spot; you know, like a free man who didn’t repeatedly choose stupid as a way of life, claiming “outlaw” and “desperado” status, while meekly surrendering to anything with a badge; including surrendering to a meter maid. "Outlaw" indeed...

You sadly keep choosing to throw away opportunities, choosing instead to be a non-productive parasite while (in some self-deluding intra-cerebral fog) claiming to be some kind of untamed stallion. Face it John, the reality is that you’re dependent on those you claim to hate and brag about someday killing. You're documentably more domesticated and tame than all those pets you’ve bragged about shooting.

So... Free-man status and the respect of my fellow man – there’s two things to which you will never again come close.

…I'm still a lot closer to such skill levels than you'll ever get…
Stop telling us and show us, you lying coward. Show us that you can actually do ANY of the things you brag of. Please. If you do, I'll publicly apologize for doubting you, you lying coward.

…I can get it back in a week or so of full time training. You have no clue how to do that.
I may not be faster or more accurate than you were in the previous century; but today, I’m absolutely faster and more accurate than you are. Even though I’m absolutely not ‘great’ or ‘world-class’, I can legitimately make that statement because I’ve demonstrated what I can do; and the demonstrations I've made are faster and more accurate than anything you've demonstrated. If that's not true, show us where we can find any demonstration of what you can do. Any.

Because simply put, you've demonstrated exactly zero. And since ANY demonstration is greater than zero, my demonstrated ability is undeniably greater than yours.

So show us how much better you are, or lick my anus, punk.

…in a 10mph cross wind, with either hand, one handed, TRY it. that soda can is moving sideways almost as fast as it's falling.
So in your drug-addled brain, a 10MPH horizontal breeze equals the 22MPH acceleration force of gravity on the same object..? Awesome. What a happy place your brain must live in. Mathematically wrong and stupid obviously, but likely happy and contented…

Please show all the plaques, certificate that you have won this year as proof of your ability, some of mine. Melvin, wannabes like you talk tough but can't prove a thing;

Old decrepit FordPerfect was making a water bottle dance with every shot today but not at 5 yds. 100yds. with bull**** factory ammo. And fast with a single shot Ruger #3.
Wanted to shoot the plates today with the 44 but did not get a chance, tomorrow will be handgun day.

2 handed eyelevel pointing, I'll trust to about 10 ft

Can't you hit anything past 10 ft? Damm, the muzzle blast from a real gun will knock them down at that range.

" I enjoy shooting as a sport"
I think that is the idea, not going after somebody in high school with a 45 or pulling a gun on everything that moves. An sport shooting does not involve shooting water towers, power plants or livestock.

I'm strictly a plinker.. BigBassMan can easily shoot rings around me with just about any weapon that I've seen him use..

Would be cool to see some video; even using a cell phone camera and a free photobucket account so it'd be no cost to do.

Then we could all be documented as being faster and more accurate than The Grand Pontificator; because ANY demonstration inherently bests a complete absence of demonstration or documentation... ;)

got an airsoft timer in route. The regular timer cant pick up the airsoft splat sound
Awesome, I use a timer and it does add a nice, measurable dimension to a demonstration. But you don't need a timer to demonstrate your ability; it's as easy as a cell-phone camera and a free photobucket account.

Fwiw, my pocket pro 2 will register my co2 bb pistol, but only at about two feet or so and only on its highest sensitivity. Don't have an airsoft gun anymore so I don't know about that.
