a pair of pants, and yes, front pocket carry is slow to draw. However, that's just a case of the shooter's stupidity. Have properly fitting slacks, or Khakis, a stiff plastic rig, with full access to acquiring a firing grip, IN the holster. Have a gun that's areal pocket pc, not some huge, heavy clunk of a double stack, and don't KID yourself that women give a crap about how you look in your pants, and the front pocket rig, used by a good man, is FASTER than a belt rig, used by a garnad, even if his coat IS open, and if both shottists are sitting. :)

Depends on how you dress and where you are at.

I've spent a good deal of time in both the tropics and the desert. Your style of carry really, really sucks in weather where it's always hot and/or humid. It also really, really sucks when you are doing anything that requires you to be very active.

Sometimes you can get away with more magnification than a fixed 10X has to offer and it's pretty handy for precision shots on small targets. Being able to crank up to 16X can realy help with the sight picture, but on hot days the mirage can really eat your lunch.

I still think the standard, fixed 10X is probually the best compromise for a rugged tac scope on a field rifle. I'm not dogmatic though the scope on the boys rifle is a 3.5X10X M1 LR (bought cheap) and the scope for my .338 Ultra Mag "project" rifle is a 6.5X20 M1 LR.
