lw a gun to use really hot loads in the locked breech. An 85 gr Silvertip, reloaded to 1250 fps, would have a 10.6 recoil momentum, equal to a 21 factor load in a 21 oz gun. You try such a load in a Taurus Millenium .45, and you will be aghast at how much it jumps around. That's with a full hand grip on the gun butt, double stack mag on the Taurus. The Keltec 380 offers nothing of the kind, and its very narrow frame will concentrate more of the recoil into a smaller area of your hand.
85 grs at 1250 fps is just 295 ft lbs, which aint a lot. It's a lot better than factory 380 loads, which are typically 160 ft lbs out of the little KelTec's short barrel, but it's still a pretty feeble blow, about like a plus P 158 gr lhp plus P in a .38 snub, which is nothing much. Compared to the 500 ft lbs of the Split Nose pocket 9x19, or the 600 ft lbs of the pocket 356, 300 ft lbs sucks.
