face, a buddy firing past your head with 357 Sig or 357 mag, with the MOST blast-prone loads on the market, from a 3" barrel or less, from 6 ft away from your head(with ZERO ear-protection, like it will be when you shoot for blood) while you TRY to react, ccw-draw and hit chest(at 8 ft). That's what you will be TRYING to ignore, when being MISSED by a guy using my kind of load, at typical defensive ranges. TELL us that such won't bother you a bit, and we'll ALL know that you are a LIAR.

I have done it under far worse conditions than you describe or can imagine.Artillery shells bursting nearby are far brighter than a camera flash, A belt fed macnine gun firing in the same bunker you are in is far louder than any pistol load.

Tsk tsk tsk our hearing and vision is tested when we leave the CONUS and tested when we arrive back in the CONUS, there are minimum thresholds required on both to keep our jobs.

We've lost one person to hearing lost and he might make it back yet.

His hearing was severly injured when the truck he was riding security in was the victim of a large IED, he got a ruptured eardrum out of it.

No one on any of our teams seems to have a problem returning fire when engaged.
