even in the military, in CONUS, can always get softpoints. So why bitch about 223 ball ammo's not being a manstopper? Nothing a soldier(in a battle zone) can do about it, anyway.

Stup*kid, sure hope your fancy reloads hold out. I doubt there are many reloading presses just sitting around with the right bullets and power for your favorite SHTF ammo. Cause we both know it won't be so!

Gee whiz, Einstein figured that out no $hit we ain't in the military anymore? Good I can quit shining my boots every day; always wondered why the cap'n stopped coming by for inspections.

Maybe that's also why some of us load different rounds other than ball for our .308's dip-weed.

the fact IS, dumbasses, guys MISS with thousands of rds for each SOLID torso or head hit that they get, and wt-bulk-expense advantages of the 223 mean MORE than the RARE instance whne a more powerful caliber than 223 means anything. We have to airlift BILLIONS of rds into a combat zone, mostly for NO tactical advantage at ALL (strictly morale) Infantry are nothing more than cannon fodder. The insurance payment for a dead soldier is STILL but $10,000, last I knew. SAME as it was over 30 years ago, while everything ELSE has quadrupled in price. that ought to TELL you something about what everyone REALLY thinks about the "worth' of a soldier's life. :) It means nothing, and his killing or wounding or capturined scores of enemy infantry mean nothing, either, cause infantry mean nothing, period.

You don't pay taxes, why worry about it? You've got your welfare payments, sorry "disability" payments from the gov't. Why care what they do? By the way most combat arms personal have more than the Grade 8 eduction that you needed to become a "meathead" 30 years ago!

30 cal 155gr AMAX trounces ANY 223 round.

Period.

Full stop.

End of Story.

We use both 7.62 and 5.56 under the same conditions day in and day out.
Guess which round is hammering the bad guys harder?
Guess which round my guys prefer?

We like the 5.56 because the launching platform is smaller and lighter not because it's better.

In my geographical location the .308 and the rifle that I shoot it out of has a definite advantage. Mainly that it will work reliably between -40F and +110F. It works in both semi arctic and semi arrid regions far more reliably than the AR does. Secondly, the .308 diameter bullets is far more available than the .224 bullet in this area. Thirdly, you require a "can" as a crutch, I don't need a crutch. A suppressor is a handy piece of kit in some circumstances, but you require one under ALL circumstances. I trust in the practice that I have done with my chosen firearms. Maybe you should practice more! Fourthly, do you have any concept of the depth of preparations you can achieve if you don't have to worry about getting arrested?

How many days out of the last 60 have you been shot at johnny? Any at all?

How many days out of the last 60 have you been in a situation where you where fired on and returned fire? Any at all?

How many man hours have the people you support spent during the last 60 days being shot at and shooting back at real live armed people? Any at all?

How many armed people have you put down in the last 60 days with .223/5.56? Any at all?

Haji is 150m away and aims an RPG at your truck you can't afford to give him a tiny 22 caliber through and through wound and wait for him to bleed out. You want him down and out from the first hit.

Guess what? 7.62 does that.

YOUR short barreled 223 doesn't!

223 is ENOUGH, and you AINT silencing 308 auto rifle, with full power loads, and have anything but a bipod rifle,.
Bullsh!t

won't have concealment,.
Neither will you. You won't be carrying your rifle in your pants, give it up.

GI rifle rd,.
See now, you were just braying about NOT needing the issue 5.56mm FMJ round. . .

one handed use,.
Unless you're a weakling, a FAL isn't that hard to shoot one-handed

.22 unit, etc, either.
Only an idiot would turn his combat rifle into an unreliable rimfire.

So your STUPID overconcern with "power" costs you your life, calling in enemies that you CAN'T handle..
Bullsh!t, only an idiot will run towards fire in a SHTF situation, in a military situation, if you're in combat, they know where you are anyway.

308 has ZERO range advantage over 223, if you just have sense enough to stick to either thick cover or darkness, so you give up the MANY advantages of 223, for NOTHING.
Bullsh!t, .308 has a lot more range than .223 and hits harder at all ranges.
