I guess he doesn't realize that if he's talking rifles in traditional trim, they had vernier sights, not semi buckhorn. With the semi buckhorn, the sighting system is limited to 150-200 yards, depending on barrel length. Using traditional vernier sights, there is no such limitation. He's also ignoring terminal ballistics or cartridges (as usual, sinc ehe doesn't know anything at all about them), or he would know to not even try comparing a shotgun slug to a .458 bullet.
