shot, or a deer a month, with .22 rifle and scope? :) ever TRY braining a man, deer, or cow with a sling shot? Sure can with canned, scoped .22 unit in CAR-15, to 50m. Can cause a man to DIE with the .22 unit, by hitting him at 150m, too, and such a hit AINT hard to get, either. So he is able to run around for a few minutes, able to walk for an hour, etc, before the blood loss, fever, etc, bring him down, so what? He wont have a CLUE where to run or fire AT. :)

Realisitcally, you can easily carry ALL the .22 ammo you have any HOPE of using for foraging, post shtf, and half of the ammo you find on the dead will be .22lr, for reasons of price, availability, effectiveness, bulk, wt, and ease of making a silencer-for.

when you find a guy with 12 ga, or 308, he'll have at MOST 50 rdsof 12 ga, much of it small birdshot, or 150 rds of 308, and neither one has much utility, post shtf. When you catch a guy with a .22, however, he's REAL likely to have MANY hundreds of rds of ammo on him. :)

Most of us will be carrying a quality 22 along with our main weapons. We don't have to carry/use junk cobbled up guns like you do. The slingshot is just a backup weapon or for convenience use.

I guess he's really afraid of people who know how to use a slingshot? Only other thing he's harped on this much are his toys to overcome his gross inadeqacies, and shooting dogs -- both topics born out of severe, unreasoning fear.

Yeah, he's too busy mentally manstrubating on how he thinks someone can't hit a quail from 14ft with a rock from a wrist rocket.

Of course he's trying to impose a rule that quails are 1" in diameter. GK only hunts miniature quail the size of caterpillers.

Dude, most of us have hunted all of our lives and are quite good at it. Slingshots are a cool skill, a backup tool, and a fun way to pass the time. Yeah, you can hunt with them if you have to. The Indians often used worse.

Did you also know that you can kill them with a thrown stick? Oh, are we going to have a put on, blustery stick throwing bet now too?

For serious hunting everyone here has decent firearms and plenty of ammo. Myself I have over 30,000 rounds of .22 stashed, most of it hypervelocity hollowpoint.

He is ranting non-stop against slingshots, isn't he?

I think we may have stumbled upon some bizzare, hidden slingshot psychosis.

That or maybe in GK-land guns are a religion and any non-firearm is a heresy.

A canned slingshot. Wow! That must be SUPER quiet, no?
So, if you have a tritium treated stone, you could follow your de-barked Chihuahua at night through the woods, (assuming he has a Tritium buttplug) right to where the dumb deer are just waiting for you to get close enough to use your assault, canned slingshot, no?
Wow! What a COOL idea! :laugh01:

JD must have gotten brutally ambushed by a girl, shooting a slingshot, who owned a big dog and hunted with a .30 cal with a 22" barrel, during the day. This horrific incident must have left him deeply scared and has shaped the rest of his life and concequently the way he interacts with folks on the internet.

Thats the only explaination I can come up with, why else would some one be so goofy about such things?

Never the less, I will be the first to issue the inevidible bet,

Rostov, I will bet one steak dinner and a six pack of your favorite micro-brewery beer against mine (GB can hold the steaks, trimmings and beer) that you can't harvest a rabbit from 42 seperate locations in the lowwer 48 during different times of he year at my choosing.

Of course, if you are too lazy and inept to accept, it will prove that rabbits can't be harvested with a slingshot.

Morning 1911sr

What I'm curious about is what the 'lie' is that he supposedly 'caught' me in?

Through all of his incoherent babbling that still isn't clear.

He's so ballisticly deficient in real world experience that he thinks you cannot get a rock to hit a quail sized target at 4 meters.

Teuf, might take you up on that bet.

The main thing I've used a slingshot around here for is quail. They are everywhere and using a gun isn't always an option, depending upon where you are at.

The rabbits out here are nasty. All of the rodents out here are nasty. They carry hantavirus, plauge, some virus that causes birth defects, and a dozen other ugly diseases that seriously mess with humans.

u can't do it OFTEN enough to be worth the RISKS, stupid, that's what I said. I've hit PLENTY of birds and critters with rocks and slingshots, but it happens once a WEEK, with you spending ALL your time at it. Burning thousands of calories, to get back a few hundred calories, is STUPID. Not to MENTION you'll have to be doing other things, like AVOIDING getting shot, post shtf.

the quail MIGHT "be everywhere", but a quail is 200 calories, so you'd need 10 a DAY, *****. No you aint taking 300 quail a month, ANYWHERE, with a slingshot. It'd be a HUGE waste of effort and exposure to take that many, that often, with shotgun or even silenced .22 rifle, actually.

SHTF? Actually I hunt quail right now. They are all over the place. Come SHTF I'll just pop an elk or a range cow.

First, you nail some quail, then you dress them out. Then you toss them into the dutch oven with some seasoning, some wild rice, a bit of water, a couple of bay leaves, a few potatoes, maybe a couple of turnips, a bit of garlic, a chile, a couple of tomatoes, and a few tomatillos.

Excuse me, I just got hungry and I have to go get some breakfast now :)

GK is afraid of anyone who can do something he cannot. Since there are so many of those people he is afraid most of the time. It shows clearly in so many of his posts.

Today at lunch, my oldest boy and me, bought new bands for our wrist rockets and a few packs of .35 cal. steel balls packaged as "hunting ammo". In a half hour we where consistently hitting a 1 liter plastic Gator Aid bottle stuck in the top soil pile of the house we are building at 15 steps.

We are now zeroed up and ready for the hunt.
