 What's the best handgun design of them all? Here's my choice: The Heckler & Koch P7M13! Why? Because it's design is inherently safe. It has an excellent trigger pull; and, because the cocker bar on the front strap must be depressed in order to fire the pistol, I find that my grip is very consistent. I, actually, shot this particular handgun straighter than I, otherwise, might.

Additionally, the P7M13's frame is very narrow; and the gun is compact. It, both, carries and hides very well. I love the large magazine capacity, too. I, always, carry an extra magazine on the other side of my belt; and that means, at any given time, I'd have a half box of ammo on my person. (What good's a gun without bullets!)

Put a set of Mepro Lights on this puppy; and, in my opinion, it would be absolutely perfect! Maybe I'll sell some of my other guns, (You know, the less-than-perfect ones.) and buy a P7M13. So, this is my vote; now, which handgun would you choose? ;)

(Hey, Rich, I love the new avatars!)

Seasons Greetings!

Well I actually have a couple of the P7M8s, but didn't much care for the M13 model. The grip was too wide to feel comfortable in my hand. But yes, both my wife and I really like the P7s.

I bought a P7M10 (I think that was the model number) which is the .40S&W version, and hated it. Felt real ungainly and more like a brick with a grip on it then a real gun. I finally sold it to a guy who was looking hard for one a long while back.

If H&K could make one in .357 Sig I would be in hog heaven! But it would have to be the same size as the M8, though. I guess one in .45ACP wouldn't get past me either, now that I think of it.

But as to what I think is the BEST handgun made, well since I am a diehard Colt Python collector, that would have to get my vote.

i'll sat the colt 1911a1.yes there are more modern designs.yes some of the features are antiquitated.yes they only hold 7+1.
BUT no one here can argue the popularity of these guns.in their many iterations they fill most all handgun needs & can be had in a veritable plethora of calibers.plus,i like em!:twoguns:

You know everyone I have ever talked to has his own
favorite. To me the gun that puts down a consistant
tight pattern, operates smoothly, without jams, ect,
and feels good in the hand. Is the best gun I have ever
fired.

I agree with that too!
My fav handgun is/was the Ruger super blackhawk 44mag with 71/2" tube, until I bought, (got a good deal) a Ruger P-90 45acp. That P-90 is the only auto I own, and has amazed me, I practice on shotgun shells at 20yds, hit 6 of 8, it is not a good carry gun, to big, but I can hit with it.
