Good point, and I think that's what most people are referring to when they say they buy only _______. I think it's more like buying the QC policy of the parent company, than buy "where" the product was actually manufactured. I think the naming of a country (only buy German opitcs, for example) is more a reflection that, historically, German manufacturers held very strict QC standards, whereas, say, a Brazilian company, again historically, might not. No matter where these companies outsource to, they subcontractor has to meet the parent company's QC standards.

At least, that's how I see it.
