So I am guessing that NY is not one of those states! I wonder though - do you have to be a resident of any of those 25 sdtates to get this carry permit or can a New Yorker sneak in and grab one?

I believe an out of stater can get a Florida CCW and carry legally while you are here in Florida as well as other reciprocal states. I think this all came about when a tourist was gunned down at a rest stop in north Florida. Of course, getting your gun here through non-CCW states could be an issue.

Thank God I don't live in Maryland any longer! I've said that more times than I can ever remember since moving down to Florida.

Rich, I left Baltimore, MD in 66.
Went back once in 71 and couldn't leave soon enough.

I carried a 1911 45 in the car and my wife carried a 22 (illegally) and still felt unarmed.

I was a National Guard Warrant Officer pilot during the Maryland riots in 65.
I was told they needed me to be a platoon leader.
When I found out that the troops were being put on the street with no ammo I said my men will have loaded Garands if I have to buy the 30/06 myself.
They decided they didn't need me after all.
They wouldn't even let me fly over the rioters.
I guess they were afraid heavy things might fall off the chopper and hurt one of those "voters".:D

6 lbs of CAR, 1 lb of .22 unit, 2.5 lbs

of 223 ammo, 1.5 lbs of .22lr ammo, 3/4 lb of suppressor, 3/4 lb of scope and mount, 1/4 lb of bipod, 3/4 lb of spare mags, 1/4 lb of spare parts. and I'm good for many years, cause I'm going to kill at least 50 men with that many rounds, and those men are going to have guns and ammo. A large % of that ammo is going to be 223 or .22lr.

My M1A and a minimum of 300 rds, 2nd choice is my Garand and 300 rds minimum. In the land where trees can be 10 miles apart a 5.56mm just can't cut it.

he said the WOODS, not a car, so more

than one LONGARM is out of the question. u dont HAVE to choose JUST a .22, in order to have .22 CAPABLILTY. that is, you dont if you are smart enough to have an AR-15 and a .22lr conversion unit for it. If any other guns are carried, they'll have to be either one large, heavy belt pistol, or 2 small, lw pocket pistols. I prefer the latter, one of them being a canned .22. The other being a pocket 9mm.

at NIGHT, 308 has NO range advantage

over the 223, at ALL, and only an idiot like garnad would be in the open, holding STILL in daylight. no you CAN'T reliably hit moves beyond 223 range, either. I don't care WHO you are or WHAT rifle or load you have.

300 rds of match 308 168 gr loads weighs over 18 lbs, along with 11 lbs of M1A and scope, 2 lbs or more of spare mags, 1lb of parts and cleaning gear, 3/4 lb of sling, 1 1/4 lb of bipod. Yeah, youwill be CARRYING all that, sure you will, along with the 50+ lbs that an ignorant [**censored**] like you would need in order to last a week. :)

You see unlike you I have experienced a week in the bush with what I hump on my back. For that matter, my experience includes multiple weeks. You really should exercise more! A weak f*ck like yourself will never survive.

I must compliment you though, you did remember that I prefered 168 grain loads. Try posting your kit list.

I'd love to see a list of states that honor other states CCW permits.
Anyone know where to find this info?
Clint, I know this reply is 6 months late, but if you haven't found this list yet, try packing.org.

i"ve done weeks, TOO, punk, just not

with a service rifle. A clown like you HAS to lie about what I've said, and many here KNOW it. That's because you are mentallly and morally weak. I walked 120 miles of rr track at night once, in 8 days, in the middle of the Illinois winter, with everybody looking for me. I KNOW what sticking to darkness and thick cover can do for a man, by personal experience. I only had what gear I could buy for a few rolls of quarters, at the K mart in mid winter. A kid's 50 degree summer sleeping bag, for instance. I could LITERALLY read a Guns and Ammo mag FROM INSIDE of that bag.

Other than your 8 day escape from jail , where you ended up surrendering yet one more time. Please describe in detail the "weeks" that you spent in the bush with a service rifle! Your escape was how many years ago?

Back to the original question.
Some assumptions, you said 15 min to get in the woods. I'm taking this to mean I'm not in the city, and I'm responding as if they are MY woods I'm diving into.

My ONE firearm would be a FAL. Accurate enough, reliable as hell.

Realistically, there's a Ruger 22/45 HB in the pack and a SIG P220 on the web belt (switched out from the 1911). But you said just one.

Hard Ball, don't know if I mentioned this before, but your wife has impeccable taste in firearms!

wife better be a LOT less than his 74

years of age, or she aint carrying any rifle, anywhere. :)

Dummy, I never SAID I spent weeks with a service rifle. I've spent weeks backpacking, with pistols, tho. You lugged around an EMPTY rifle, and NO ammo, and you had the taxpayers providing for you, and nobody even trying to FIND you, much less kill you. You had other guys providing shelter, hot food, etc for you. So it's just another case of your LYING about things, garnad.

noisy, heavy FAL and ammo, no feasible

use for most foraging, unlikely to be resupplied with ammo, no concealment, no 1 handed use, probably no luminous sights, LAME assed scope mount, [**censored**]ty trigger pull, etc.

Personally I would "Hat up" with my sons in tow and they all carry variations of the SKS, I use a "Paratrooper," 2 carry full sized Norincos, and the oldest carrys a Yugo(Not My choice, But he likes it). The pack out is 150Rds apeice, 1 bore snake, a small bottle of CLP, small bottle of "Windex", and a light ruck with socks, drawers, first aid kit, socks dried fruit, socks, rice, mess kit and water filter. I am a big fan of clean socks so we stock up, if you dont keep the LPC's in good order then You will be stuck in place.
