why lug around FAL,when it has no range advantage over the 223?

Unfortunately for your entire post, the FAL DOES have a severe range advantage over the .223, especially the further past 100m you get.

I like the .223, but good grief, you have to at least be realistic about the tools you are using.

Unlike manmade statutes, you cannot successfully EVER get away with trying to ignore or violate the laws of physics and ballistics.

If the FN is semi-auto only, then why did they classify it as a banned weapon and not the M1A? Nasty looking?
