cause you;'re too lazy and stupid to carry what you should have? then carry a rental satellite phone, dummy! if you are too lazy/stupid to have the right gear, then HOW will you know all the things you'll need to know, so as to use them in time to save yourself (4 seasons, anywhere you might be)? it's a farcial assumption. you'd damned well BETTER have 10 lbs of gear, and water (or that satellite phone) if you get more than crawling distance from a vehicle or a building, especially in the mountains or in cold months/terrain. you are lugging around 20-80 lbs of blubber NOW, so why can't you carry 10 lbs of essential gear and water?

most of the time, it gets PLENTY tough enough, even WITH proper gear. especially if you try to carry typical winter gear all summer and protect it from insects and rodents. :) it's not at all hard for 70F at 4 pm to drop below freezing, at night, especially spring or fall in the mountains. it only needs to get below 60F with a lot of wind and rain, to put you at risk of hypothermia and long term, pneumonia. Infectious agents dont give a damn about how skilled you are or how "tough" you think you are.

So give us a detailed list of the kit you currently have packed, for a 4 season catastrophe. Same question that has been asked about a dozen time before. Put up or shut up!

It would be a made up list he got off the Internet anyway. Where is he going? Now a sat phone? Who are you calling? Who are you taking with you when your doing all this traveling around at night in any weather?
